mine is and is registered as a 48 cj2a  I just happen to have a lot of 50 cj3a scrap parts on it, like body, frame, engine etc.

I have stamped my own plates and it is difficult to do a nice job. Robert's plates are perfect and well worth it.
I agree with Bob.  I did my own stamping when I finished my 3A, but only because I didn't know there was another source to get a completed VIN plate.  In the end, it worked out for the best because I stamped the VIN on the title onto the blank data plate to avoid any issues at the license office.  I plan on ordering a nicer VIN plate from the link with my actual VIN on it and swapping them out when needed... :-X

really not bad, costs more than just a blank plate, but comes stamped with original type script stamps, with original type mounting rivets and shipping for 48.70 and I don't get a chance to mess up the stamping

I believe they should be stamped. Depending on how "correct" you want your data plate you can order a blank one from Walck's and stamp it yourself or spend more money and get an exact replica from a specialty shop online in the correct metal and they stamp it in the correct font.

do you know the place that does that?  I'm gonna check into that, probably not a lot more and would look right

OK, engine serial number has been surfaced off, VIN plate gone, I do have a title though,  gonna order a new VIN plate but was wondering if the VIN is stamped or engraved in the plate?  I would guess a trophy shop would engrave, but I can stamp
