It's really a matter of choice. I put mine in the center located in the flat panel to fit and clear everything. I don't think it matters where you put it as long as it suits you.

My original windshield frame does not have any mounting holes for the rearview mirror. Was a mirror standard equipment or an option? I will be installing a recently purchased mirror but want to make sure I have the location right before I just start boring new holes through the windshield frame. The pic in the manual shows it just left of center. I've seen other pictures with it almost directly above the steering wheel. Can anyone help narrow that down? And what does it look like from the front? Just a couple bolts sticking through?
