Tumble,  My 11 inch brakes are off of an early 70's cj5.  They work great and have the self adjusters.  I would think they would be quite easy to find and the installation was pretty straight forward.  Bob W knows quite a bit about the conversion and maybe he will chime in.

Hey Tumbleweed....Well the PO did the up grade to 11" but I will be buying the parts I need, shoes, wheel cylinders, ecentric bolts

from Walcks.  My front drums are fine as well as the springs.  According to Carl Walck, the conversion from 9" to 11" was done with

station wagon and pick up brake components.  I have a 75 J10 and I noticed I had one (1) set of shoes in my extra parts box

and they look almost identical to whats on the cj3a.  My 3a was an early production model, 270?? serial number and a lot of

parts on it are cj2a parts: Rear end is a Dana 41, has a split windshield and the Tub is cj2a dimensions.  The Tub does have the

cj3a tool compartment.  The serial number plate says it is a cj3a so I guess that would be the official name but I have to always

remember it could be a 2a part I'm looking for.

It might be worth checking around for brake parts for those vehicles and you might find a better deal since you will need the drums also.

I hope someone else who reads this might have some more concrete information to add.

Hey dodjh,

Where are you getting your 11" brakes from? Just thought I would ask since I will be upgrading as well both back and front.

I've been waiting but the E-bay E-brake assembly hasn't arrived yet.  The lining shoes, wheel cylinder and cable

housing and cable will need to be bought for it.  I've been holding off on ordering the 11" brakes for the front until

they could be ordered all at one time with the E-Brake parts.  Who knows, it might arrive today>

Tim...the brake handle is and the cable runs to inside the firewall where it has been severed. So there is nothing from just inside engine compartment

to where the E-Brake assembly connects at the rear ot T/C.

That's great... (I'm assuming you were that 1 bidder.) $25.00 is a real score for all that stuff. I saw an adjuster listed by itself for $25.00. I know the other brakes are...and should be your priority, but with a few more small items like springs, and some shoes, and your lower assembly is back in the game.

Is your brake handle and cable still hanging around?

I think, after many hours of trying to determine why my E-Brake is in the condition my posted picture shows it is,

the main brakes weren't operable so they, P.O., used the E-Brake for the primary braking system.

Hey Tumbleweed,

My photo showing the one mounting bolt was just to hold the backing plate in position while it was posing for the picture.  My TC had not been painted yet, so I didn't want to fully assemble the hand brake, just to take it back off.

All four bolts should align!!! ;)

Good eye, though.

Hey athawk11, when I put my backing plate on this weekend all my holes alligned up to the rear spedo brg. cover. Did you just put 1 bolt in the plate? I wonder if mine is not correctly but then why would all 4 holes line up. Just wondering.........I believe there are 3 long bolts a short bolt (behind the backing plate) and then 1 threaded bolt holding the backing plate to the spedo gear brg. cap.

Or have I had 1 too many Shiner beerz... :)

Everybody...thanks for the reply's....Gunslinger....that is a realistic possibility and in that case the T/C and shaft

bearing should be fine!  Tim...thanks for thinking of me and sending the link to E-bay.

Sounds like me and Tumbleweed will be at least two bidders on it.  Bill...the wire brush approach sounds fine.

I almost have to agree with you Gun.

I am fairly new to all of this, but I have never seen that kind of damage done to an E-brake.

I suppose it could have gotten caught on a rock, got cracked and then fell off. Even then, I doubt you would have lost that much of the drum without someone hacking off the pieces.
