Hey Brian,
I'll get those up soon as I can. I ordered the filter head and filters from Donaldson Co, I've got an in there, every day if you know what I mean.  I should get the engine back in soemtime next week, I'll take some shots then.

Carl, there is no discoloration on the rods, they look great.  This guy builds a lot of 4 cyliner fords for the Sprint Cup circuit, he runs into undersized rods from time to time from the factory.  Sounds wierd, but I've seen his stuff and he knows what he's talking about.  I'm not sure about the cam thing either, but I'm ready to explore it and see what the costs would be.  Find out then I guess.  If he's wrong its his warranty.

Can you post a picture of how you converted to a full flow oil filter?  Please show where you tapped into the block for the oil lines.  Thanks Brian

Ordinarily rods don't shrink unless they have been overheated and are slightly blue. The big end of the rod is usually honed out with a rod honing machine to keep everything in alignment. DO NOT get them oversize. Actually, if the big end bores are egg shaped you need to take a cut off the rod cap mating surface and then bore the big end out to size with a special machining setup.

I believe I would stick with the .040" size orifice, these engines do not turn 8000 rpm.

Chrome plating the cam would require plating it oversize then grinding it down to fit the worn bores. That is not a good idea. Find a shop that can line bore the cam bores and use cam bushings. You will be glad you did. The cam bores will most likely be egg shaped and still be a problem.

I am thinking you need to find another engine builder. I don't like his ideas at all.

Well the machinest started on the Triple X this week, we found a couple interesting things, the valve guides were wore out, which were supposed to have been checked on the last build, but here's the funny one, the connecting rod diameters at the bearing surface were less than the minimum diameter, so they were tighter than spec at required touque, anyone ever hear of that?  We are going to grind them out to spec as we work throguh the other stuff.

Also found that the squirter for the timing gear was at the .070 dimension instead of .040. We decided to change that to .020 as this guy builds race engines and never uses anything over .020 on 8000 rpm motors, I'm going to trust him. We also changed the oil gallery to add a full flow oil filter, spin on type.  Now the oil comes out of the pump, to the filter, down to number 1 rod bearing and through the galley to number 4 and the gage.  So the gage will show the lowest system pressure.

We also checked the cam bearing surfaces, one was at .004, one at .0055, one at .0035.  So were going to look at chroming the cam at those spots to build it up then machine it back to spec dimensions, thought about line bore it and put in bearings but the block is too long for his tools.  Keep you posted on that one, it might be too $$$ for my blood.
