I'm a newbe as far as restorations go, but what about some of the epoxy paints they have for guns.  Some of the epoxy paints are very thick and would turn out to be a mess, but the ones they sell for guns are durable and easy to use with an airbrush.  The epoxy has some elasticity so it might work.  I don't know how well it will fill in gaps though.  Future cracks might need further repair.

Here is the result with gloss black Krylon. I have to note that this wheel is not the same as the one in the top picture (it was in slightly better shape). But the one in the picture is under repair. �The paint will have a chance to hardenup a couple weeks before going back on Jeep. Hopefully my wedding ring won't scratch it up. It would be hard to explain to my wife why I remove it everytime I go for a ride!

I'm going to give the Krylon Fusion a try. The Performix Plastic Dip sounds promising too. The Krylon also comes in Olive drab. Here's a link to their camo paints for plastic.

I have a similar question.  PO replaced my wheel just before I bought the Willys. It's in good shape, but I want it to be OD.  With proper prep, could I get the Gillispies paint to stick?

Someone recommended to me (and I did purchase some but never used it) Performix PlastiDip spray on multi-purpose rubber coating (black). It says it won't crack, chip, or become brittle and gives a non-slip grip. I would have tried it but my wheel just fell apart and disintegrated so I just replaced it.

That is what I used when I repaired mine.  I can't remember if it was Krylon or DuPont brand, but it worked really well.  The only issue is since the wheel is so old and dried out, I am now developing new, smaller hairline cracks the more I use the steering wheel, but nothing like the chunks that were gone out of it. :(  Oh well, part of the beast.

Fixing a wheel with the typical gaping cracks at the hub. Filling with JB weld and wet sanding. What have you all used for paint on these in the past? I know Krylon makes a paint for plastic, anybody try it on a steering wheel?
