I agree, it looks right for the 3A, I've got two front plates, one for an industrial motor (air compressor) and one for the 3A, the difference seems to be the motor mount, on the one for the vehicle the mounts are 90degrees opposed, while on the industrial they are both forward facing.

At a glance that plate looks correct but keep in mind there were a lot of different front plates for different applications including the utility series vehicles. There were at least 2 different front plates for CJ-3As, although the difference is minor.

CJ3A's did not have chain drive. However, that front plate looks correct. The driver's side front motor mount was moved forward on the 3A's to allow room for the vacuum type fuel pump and that plate appears to be angled the correct way; right side rearward, left side forward.

The guy said it was from a CJ3A chain drive engine. I don't think 3A's ever came with chain drive timing. Correct?  Unless at some point someone swapped an an older engine in and moved the plate over.  He said he is parting it out of a 3A.
