Do yourself a favor.  When you put it back together, make sure you use some anit-seize on those nuts.   That way they will also come off again in the future hopefully easily.   Without anti-sieze, they can really fuse on tight due to the manifold exhaust heat.    The large washer go to the studs where the intake and exhaust manifold share a stud.

I figured it out shortly after where they went.  I was pleasantly surprised how easy all the hardware came off.  I had dreaded the exhaust nuts, fearing breakage but after soaking for 2 days in PB Blaster, they came off just fine.  I've only had 3 bolts so far break on my tear down and they were for the tub mounts.  I'm hoping to pull the motor off the frame this weekend.

Thanks,

Brett

So I'm stripping my M38 down with a 3A engine.  I go to take off the intake/exhaust mannys together and after I undo all the bolts then slide of the assembly, I hear parts falling.  There were, what I found, 3 washers or spacers that have the same size hole as the studs and about 3/16 thick.  I put them back on exhaust thinking that is where they belong as there are 3 studs, but they seem too thick and I cant say I recall them there while I was undoing the nuts.  And I cant see where else they would go.  Any ideas?
Thanks
Brett
