Original wiring was 16, 14 or 12 gauge, no 18 gauge wire. Remember a 6 volt system requires larger wires than a 12 volt system. The voltage regulator had two 14 gauge wires and one 12 gauge wire.

Some of the original wiring on my cj3a is green and red cloth covered, I can buy lengths of it on line, what gauge should I get? Some is 16g some is 18g. Is the 18g for regulator etc?  I rewired with modern cable but it just looks sub par, thanks in advance for any advise...
