« on: November 18, 2010, 07:28:38 PM »That was the same mistake that I made one time on my rear pinion. �Intuition tells you to put it with the flat part out so that you have a smooth flat surface to lay a piece of wood across to hammer it in. �Now that I think about it, when I figured it out and flipped it over, I had to fashion a seal driver out of a PVC coupling (1-1/2 inch if I recall) so that I could hammer it in without damaging the protruding center portion. � �As you said, one of the best indicators of which way to install a seal is to make sure that the exposed spring band is facing toward the pool of lubricant. � �Good job on getting it done. � �;)
