Does sound like you are having a fuel supply problem. Often times junk clogs up the fuel line from the tank to the pump on these old Jeeps. This web-page explains how to test the fuel pump. http://www.cj3a.info/tech/fuelpump.html

just a regular old clear plastic in line filter and it will start good and run for about a min. or so then  dies.  then I have a hell of a time getting her started again.  if I manually pressurize system with my mouth she will start.

Mechanical pumps with a glass bowl have a large diaphragm and two small valves, either the diaphragm has a small tear in it and the fuel is leaking into your sump overnight or one of the valves has come loose or is damaged, try a  new kit...

How do you know fuel is disappearing from the fuel line?
That would be my question, how do you know? Second question, are you having a starting problem in the morning?

What condition are you trying to correct? I don't think a lack of fuel in that line overnight will cause any noticeable problems.

fuel disappears from line between carb and pump when sits overnight.  Is this a fuel pump problem or Carb problem?  If a pump problem can I just replace a Check valve or something in fuel pump?  any help would be appreciated.
