I would agree with the other post, A Warn or Saturn OD installs in a few hours, allows you to split gears on & off road, or use OD in any gear. Not sure the RTS would bolt up in front, and defiantly wouldnt in back (Herm the OD guy offers this with adapters). Also you may need to move the engine ahead or TC back to compensate for the different length of the trans ?, or alter driveshaft lengths. May be a PIA. I also think the split between 2nd & 3rd would be disappointing (1.92-1 vs 1.55 of a T90a1). Guys running a T90C complain about this with a 1.85-1 second gear, the RTS would be worse!...

Why not just put an Overdrive on the stock transfer case. It's a fast and easy job.

Looking to do a Transmission and transfer-case swap into the CJ3A my step-son and I are going to rebuild. The idea is to make it so he can drive it around town and to work and keep up with traffic. I'll be rebuilding the frozen engine and balancing and blue printing it like I use to do my Dragracing engines. The RTS transmission was fitted to '84-'85 Ford F-150's and Bronco. The shifter is mounted on the top plate and is a 3 speed with 4th being O/D. Being a Borg-Warner the transmission should bolt up to the stock bellhousing. Has anyone here done this swap?
I used the 2wd version in my Flathead powered Street Rod and it fit sweat.
Thanks for any help you can pass my way.
