Sorry for my confusion, no jumper needed. It's externally grounded. Just did that to get the right ohms measurement.

thanks, It did help. I put a jumper from the brush to the casing ground screw and got the very reading you see in that tech info. I suspect that the rebuilder of this generator forgot to put in the jumper.
