I'm using foam on mine as well, I went to a sewing/ foam specialty shop and they helped me pick out two different densities of foam, a heavy density 2 inch for the seat base, and a 2 inch lighter density that sits on top of the base foam.  Idea being when you sit on it,  the the top piece gives you comfort, the heavy piece gives you the firmness.  Backs are the 2 inch light foam.  Works OK.

To the best of my knowledge, unless you send in a set of your own springs to a seat company, what they will build you is a set of seats with foam cushions.  So, yes, a lot of us are using foam.  I had Beechwood Canvas build my seats and they use a pretty dense closed cell foam for both the bottoms and backs.  They are dense so I have a very thin gel pad and then a regular seat pad over that that I have added for comfort.  I can ride all day now in comfort, but if you are a big guy, adding the pads for comfort might not be an option as they will cut down on the steering wheel clearance.  Still, they aren't too bad all by themselves.

A little late maybe but I got a couple of pictures. The seat rests against the wheelhouse bracket right where that length of protective tape is.....

This is how I addressed the same issue.  I made new tabs that support the 2A seat frames.  This is a simple fix, but you are giving up a little leg room this way.  If you're tall, you might be more comfortable in an actual 3A seat.

Mine are bent down like the 2a, so that must be my problem. I�m going to see if I can make them work, I�m not sure yet if I want to keep this kind of seat or not as I drive my Jeep a lot. If I do then I�ll try to get the right frames. Thanks for the info.

Click on the link and scroll down a bit.  You'll see a photo of the front legs on a CJ3A seat frame and a CJ2A seat frame.  This is the easiest way to tell the difference between the two.

If you have 2A seat frames in a 3A tub, they don't fit right.  If you have 3A seat frames in a 2A tub, they don't fit.

That could be, the seat frames came in a pile of parts I bought years ago. I�ll take some pictures of what I�ve got.

I was going to try to take a picture of the frame resting on the tab but it is too tight with the seat back in place..you just can't see it....

Yes mine has a hole but it is not drilled through the wheelhouse as it is on the driver's side....same part no doubt.
