Another option for your floor is to use one of the new deck resurfacer products that are on the market now.  They lock in splinters, seal up small cracks and waterproof the surface.  The stuff is basically a cross between thick paint and undercoating and leaves a nice level surface with a little bit of texture and runs about $30 a gallon.
I just used some of this on my deck at home and a picnic table and was pretty impressed with it.  The next time I have to replace a trailer floor, I'm going to look at this pretty close...

One big catch though, I would do it now before you get oil, trans fluid or gas on the wood.  After that happens, I am not sure about adhesion....

I used a trailer box from Harbor Freight and have been very happy with it. The position of your spare tire may interfere with installation though. I also added a HF 9000lb winch mounted to a receiver hitch that is welded facing backwards just above the deck of the trailer. Battery is stored in the HF box and wired to my trailer light plug. Very slick for not a lot of money.

I bought a cheap 2 speed boat winch for mine. No battery problems. Also, used boiled Linseed oil. It took 3 applications on mine before it quit soaking in immediately. Boards will swell up idf water gets to them. John

Borrow = damage. I'd gracefully bow out on that. Mine have returned with screws in the tire and the tread worn out, and even the hitch bent because they jack knifed it. U haul rents trailers for them. I always took good care of borrowed trailers and also offered to pay them for a new tire or something. Put some linseed oil on your new wood. It will last much longer. John

Mike (M38Mike) hosts the Fall Color Tour every year  here in Colorado.  He has designated trailer parking.  On any given day, there are 20-25 trailers back there.

I just picked up my new trailer today. It has a 6' wide bed X 16'. Now I can park behind Mikes barn in style!
