I use the same material in my 3A and I secured it to the floor with push snaps, no worries about it blowing out and it stays in place no matter what feet are doing..ha

I made some too for my '53 out of a rubber truck bed mat that I flipped over. I made one for the rear too.

Oooo nice, I did the same thing in the back to keep the stainless from getting scratched up. The rubber backing is nice for putting greasy stuff in the back, just flip the mat over and the carpet part doesn't get saturated.

I put a chunk in the toolbox as well but it just serves to hold water in there. So back to the drawing board on that one  ::)

Heck with the floor mats. I may call JC Whitney and see if they still have any $179 motors sitting on the shelf.

Hi

Have a look at the attached ad from Popular Mechanics, dated 1949. I do have photo of
this installed from the era but seem not find it...yet.

I can send a better copy if wanted, it's give or take 10Mb's though.

Until later,

Flyingfish.

I ride with "Lee" on the 2A, he has a 2A... His is quite a bit quieter than my 3A and both are similarly broken in and set up.  He has a set of medium density rubber floor mats that cover the floor on both sides and the transmission tunnel.  I asked him to remove it for a ride one day and we discovered that with the matt out his jeep was about the same in noise and heat that mine was, with it installed  it was much different.  As a result I put a cow matt in the rear of mine.  Those are from Tractor Supply and are about 3/4 inch thick heavy density rubber.  Up front I don't have anything yet, working on that as it seems like a good way to go.

It certainly would keep the floor from getting scratched up on a restored Jeep.

Pics of both Jeeps with floor mats installed look great.  Now I'm arguing with myself rather that's something I want to do or not.
Really great looking Jeeps.  Let us know if you're pleased with the performance of the floor mats.

I got mine at Lowe's. "Blue Hawk 36" x 24" Charcoal Rectangular Door Mat" for $6.48ea.

They had some heavier ones but I went with these as I wasn't sure if I'd be happy with my "custom" cut and fit attempt. I'd still like to find mats that are more period correct but I needed SOMETHING to protect the bare floors for now. I think they came out pretty well.

Looks good Tim. I do fully expect mine to disintegrate after minimal use but it's a cheap experiment. Does anyone know if there was a factory/dealer option for floor mats back in the day?

Hey Ryan,

Great work as always.

Great minds think alike.... ;)

Light duty...easy to cut and shape...rubber backed...they stay in position...inexpensive. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

After one summer season, my driver side is already pretty worn, but for as cheap as these are, who cares.

That really looks sharp. Where did you get the "Willys" sticker on your heater? Did I send it to you? I sent one to someone a year or two ago. ...

I bought it on ebay a few months ago. Was it from you?
No, I had 5 made, used one for myself, and sent one to someone for n/c.  Thought it may have been you. They look the same.
