All the 1/4 ton trailers use the same hub setup as the MB/GPW/Early 2A full floating axle.  I don't think calling it a full floater is really accurate as there is no drive axle, just a flat plate bolted on the exposed end of the hub to close it in, instead of a stamped hubcap like you would see on a normal front wheel hub used with removeable and adjustable bearings.

The drums are the same as WWII drums and quite often they are swapped out with worn out ones so a jeep has good brakes. The brake on the trailer is only used for parking, so it doesn't get anywhere near the abuse the jeep brakes get.

Is that a full floating axle on it?

I haven't a clue. Is there an easy way to tell?

Here's an e-mail directly from Chuck Lutz. Looks like it is very likely a '42 Willys MB-T. Thanks to Chuck (and everyone else who replied) for the info.

Hi Ryan

That Willys MB-T has a pretty cool tailgate from a later CJ jeep adapted to it!

It is a very early Willys ton but I dont have any others with an ACM number close to yours that has a data plate to cross reference with so this is a pretty GOOD estimate. While you are doing the restoration on this trailer I may get some additional info to tighten up the estimate so I suggest you get back in tough with me on this one at that time to see I can improve the estimates for you!

For now.

Willys MB-T
Serial Number: 3467
DOD: 8-42
USA Number: 0160336

Best Regards,
Chuck Lutz

I put more pics on the second page of the 2A thread as well: http://www.thecj2apage.com/forums/trailer-id-anyone_topic23561_page1.html

I just took possession of this trailer. It is the trailer that has been with my '51 3A as long as anyone can remember but I'm not sure if they were purchased together or separately. I'm having trouble identifying it. I thought it was a Bantam but the "WILLYS" stamped tailgate is throwing me off. The ID plate is gone but I can see where it used to be attached. No other identifying marks anywhere that I can see after a quick crawl around it. Anybody know what it is?
