If you have a headlight ring------then the rest of the willys is rebuildable! If you don't have the headlight ring, then you can buy one, and the the rest is rebuildable!  Jim

Hi all, this jeep is here in the yard. I'm planning to strip it down for parts. If anyone wants to take a stab at a resto send me a PM. If you look closely at the base of the windshield you can see it says "speed Bowl". This was the work truck at our local race track the Waterford Speed Bowl. I have not yet had a chance to look it over closely, see if the engine turns, etc.

Most of the 3As seem to be bottom mount. I'll have to look at some 2As a little closer.
Only very early 3A's were bottom mounted. It was a short term carryover from 2A production. Most 3A's are grille mounted.

Here's a pic of the full bottom mount fan shroud. To be effective, at least half of the fan blade should be inside the shroud.

I see in the "2A 3A Parts List" on page 48 under Group 14-Cooling a part called a Fan Ring Shroud #640144. That sounds like what I need to look for. Thanks

Your radiator is not heavy duty (hot climate) cooling. Std cooling shrouds did have an additional ring that bolted to the main shroud with 4? bolts. Looks like the main part of the shroud is there but the ring is not.

Bob, this is whats left of the shroud in my Jeep. Maybe I'm not missing as much as I thought. Most of the 3As seem to be bottom mount. I'll have to look at some 2As a little closer.
Larry, Frames pretty straight and solid, windshields not to bad, hmm  :)

Rough? There's an old saying; "If it casts a shadow it's restorable!" :)

I like it! What is its serial number? edit... I see you have the serial number in the post  :-[

Side mount radiator shrouds are very different than bottom mount shrouds. Bottom mount radiator shrouds are not removable, side mount shrouds are held on with phillips head sheet metal screws. There are also two different bottom mount shrouds depending on if it's standard or heavy duty cooling. CJ-2As used the same type bottom mounted radiators so it should not be difficult to locate a clogged radiator to get the shroud.

This CJ3A (#42870) was given to me by a neighbor. Its been sitting in the woods for 20+ years. Rearend and tub are missing but suspension is still there. The engine, tranny,Tcase, front fenders, hood Etc are all there as well. I'm told the engine was still pretty decent when it was put out there. My 49 3A with frame mounted radiator is missing the shroud. Can anyone tell me if the shroud from a newer side mount radiator will fit? Bob? I'll have some spare parts available if anyones looking for something.
