I forgot to mention that the society bought all the spare parts the army had for the MBs and GPWs! This included unused L134 engines in boxes etc... And now the society sell the parts to the members with reasonable prices. They also bought all the parts to the Weasel and a lot of parts to GMC CCKW and Dodge WC 5x/6x.

The engine of my CJ-3a is long gone, and now a Volvo B16 is mounted in it. It could be interesting to get a F134 instead (since my jeep had this originally) or an odd-fire V6, but these are hard to find here.

As I said, that particular CJ-3a has been on sale for a year now, probably due to the steep price.

The Royal Norwegian Army and The Royal Norwegian Airforce used Willys MBs and Ford GPWs (from the Lend-Lease agreement) until late 1980s, and then the Norwegian Society for Historical Military Vehicles (HMK) got an agreement with the government to alow their members to buy the jeeps from the Army. So there are a lot of WW2 jeeps in Norway.

The army wanted to start to replace the jeeps in 1965 and had a competition between Willys M38a1, Volvo L3314 Laplander and a third car I don't remember. The Volvo won, so no newer Willys/Jeep entered the Norwegian Army.

CJ-2a and CJ-3a probably was imported to Norway, but so few that most of them probably have been used until they were wrecked. Still, a CJ will be seen as "less worth" due to historic value when compared to the WW2 jeeps.

Since the MBs and GPWs go for NOK 40000-100000 (USD 5000-12500) depending on the originality and looks, a CJ-2a or CJ-3a should cost less.

Very nice 3A!  Since I'm going through a frame off now, I can definately appreciate how much time and effort went into this, but $40K seems a little steep.  I guess if I charged myself a labor rate, I'd probably be over that though  ;D

That is beside the subject of this discussion, if you reread my initial post it states the most expensive Willys CJ-3a in the world.

Very nice though it did still have a few dings in the body but it did win first place in a show I guess. I looked at the whole set of photos and they are well done.

I think the Jeep will sell to someone with more money than sense. I wonder how many CJ3A's are over there. There is a lot of WWII stuff but I wonder about the post war stuff.

That is a very nice looking CJ-3A!! As with many high dollar restorations and auctions there are a bunch of non-correct components.

In Norway the most expensive Willys CJ-3a in the world (I belive) is for sale. On the by far biggest site in Norway for selling used cars an importer of cars have restored a CJ-3a + a Stevens M416 trailer and want to sell them for 288000 Norwegian kroner! This equals 35600 Euro or 46800 US Dollar. It has been listed for sale for more than one year...

In addition to the high price they claim that the trailer is produced in the same year as the car, but as far as I know M416 wasn't produced before the 60's.

From the photos the Willys looks very well restored, but the price is way beyond similar cars in Norway.
