Hello everyone,

First of all, I'd like to sincerely thank all of you for your patience, your understanding, and the many encouraging messages I received over the past few weeks. Your support has meant a great deal to me.

As many of you noticed, the CJ3A Page experienced an extended outage during the past month. I wanted to take a few minutes to explain what happened.

### Why did the site go down?

The CJ3A Page had been hosted with the same provider (Midphase) for more than twelve years. Over time we began experiencing more and more issues, including server instability, access problems, security restrictions, and limitations imposed by the old hosting platform.

It became clear that the site needed to be moved to a modern hosting provider.

### The migration

Although I expected the migration to be relatively straightforward, it turned out to be much more complicated than anticipated.

The old server was using StackCP while the new server uses cPanel. Because of those differences, the migration could not be completed automatically and much of it had to be rebuilt manually.

During the migration we encountered several unexpected problems, including:

* corrupted or outdated configuration entries;
* database inconsistencies;
* DNS propagation delays;
* broken theme paths;
* SSL certificate issues after the domain transfer;
* multiple rounds of testing before everything worked correctly.

Each issue had to be solved individually before moving on to the next.

### Where we are today

I'm happy to report that the migration has now been successfully completed.

The forum is now running on its new server, the database has been fully restored, the SSL certificate is working correctly, and the site is once again secure.

I'd like to thank the migration team at TMD Hosting for their persistence throughout this process. Although the migration took much longer than expected, they stayed with it until every issue was resolved.

### Looking ahead

Now that the emergency migration is behind us, I can finally focus on improving the CJ3A Page instead of simply keeping it alive.

Some of the projects I hope to work on over the coming months include:

* upgrading the forum software to the latest version of SMF;
* improving security and backups;
* modernizing portions of the website;
* preserving the technical information that has accumulated over the past two decades;
* making the site easier to maintain for the future.

The CJ3A Page has always been a hobby project for me. Like many of you, I have a full-time job and family responsibilities, so progress sometimes takes longer than I would like. Nevertheless, I remain committed to preserving this community and the tremendous amount of knowledge it contains.

I believe the CJ3A Page remains one of the most valuable technical resources dedicated specifically to the CJ-3A and CJ-3B Jeeps, and I intend to keep it that way.

Thank you again for your patience, your encouragement, and your continued support.

I'm very happy to see everyone back online.

See you on the forum!

Pascal

Gearboxes and axles / new crown throw out bearing makes noise
« Last post by tow hook on June 01, 2026, 10:12:43 AM »
my old throw out bearing made noise ( when not en gauged / at a stop light  ) when i first got my jeep running adjusted the linkage. the noise when down but never away totally.  after 2500 miles it was pretty quite. no grease leaking out...   so when the trans was out over winter i fixed the leaks etc. i put on a new crown throw out bearing. sounds worse then the first bearing. i'm temped to try and drill a hole in it, and add more grease. i  have maybe 5 miles on the new bearing. any thoughts ?

 thanks

EVENT SCHEDULE / Re: Great Willys Picnic, Show and Swap 6/14/26
« Last post by Bob W on May 21, 2026, 07:50:15 PM »
The Willys Picnic is just a couple weeks away!! Get your Jeeps ready, gather up those old parts to sell, and come on out to the largest Willys gathering in the country.

Please plan to support The Wanamaker Kempton and Southern Railroad. They allow us to use their property for The Willys Picnic at no charge. Ride the train, purchase breakfast and lunch at the food stand, visit the gift shop, or at least make a donation to the Railroad.

See ya all there!!

I can't really look into it, Steve -- I don't know anything about how the back end of the forum works.  But hopefully Pascal can find something.  We do have a few frustrating problems, including people who can't get on at all, and people who find some posts blank.
